Giants RB Cam Skattebo carted off field after suffering serious ankle injury

New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo suffered a serious right ankle injury during Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. The injury happened in the second quarter when Skattebo tried to catch a pass in the middle of the field. As he went down, his right ankle got caught under an Eagles player, twisting badly to the side.

The injury looked very painful, and it was clear right away that it was serious. Players from both teams reacted with shock — one Eagles player quickly turned away, and several Giants players couldn’t look. Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, one of Skattebo’s close friends, shouted in frustration when he saw what happened.

Trainers rushed to help, and Skattebo was taken off the field on a cart with his leg in an air cast to keep it stable. The Philadelphia crowd applauded him as he was driven away. The Giants later confirmed that he was ruled out for the rest of the game and taken to a nearby hospital for tests.

Skattebo had been having a good game before the injury — he had already scored his seventh touchdown of the season on an 18-yard pass from Dart.

The injury is another setback for the Giants’ offense, which is already missing Malik Nabers, their young star wide receiver who tore his ACL last month.
